Earline DeSpain

January 11, 1921 — August 28, 2017

Earline DeSpain was born in Lowes, KY. on January 11th, 1921 at the Methodist parsonage, sharing a birthday with her grandfather. She was a lifetime resident of Lowes, raising her two children and helping her beloved husband Earl run a local business.

By the grace of God she was blessed with a steadfast, unwavering faith and undaunted courage. This amazing woman always remained good natured and positive, even in the face of any disappointment, adversity, or loss. Prayful, Godly, and devoted, Earline got up early every morning to read her bible and pray for the 200 people she regularly kept on her prayer list.

Possessed with rare generosity and compassion, she gave monthly donations to charities, neighbors, and countless people that she barely knew. Earline was a rare and gentle soul, known for her love of animals, and her unconditional love and devotion to children that were not her own. Infant cousins Carolyn Moore Dyar and Dr. Michael Moore often traveled  long distances to visit her when they became adults, never forgetting her kindness to them when they were children.

Above all else, Earline valued her personal relationship with Jesus Christ and her husband and children that she so loved and cherished. This woman of uncommon faith, integrity and compassionate love will remain in the hearts and minds of all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Earline is survived by her beloved daughter Dianne (Paul Sr.) Sloan; grandchildren, Melissa (Thomas) Dodson of Beulah, KY., Michael (Karen) DeSpain of Harrodsburg, KY., and Joyce (Mike) Sloan-Hensley of Pleasant Hill, MO.; Great grandcdhildren, Samuel and Jacob Dodson, Angela and Dawn DeSpain, Amber, Jefferey, and Josh Taylor; and four great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents, Roy Lee and Hettie Hicks Whitledge; and one son, Butch.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday September 1, 2017 at Lowes Cemetery, with Bro. Thomas Dodson officiating.
