Lou Anna (Warford) Jones

November 19, 1916 — September 8, 2017

Lou Anna Jones, 100, made her journey to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 8, 2017 while residing at the Barkley Center in Paducah, KY.

Lou Anna was born on November 19, 1916 in Ragland, KY to Kellie and Adele Hankins Warford. After graduating from Heath High School in 1934, Lou married Robert “Bob” L. Jones on June 16, 1934.

Lou began her career as a beautician after completing cosmetology classes in Clarksville, TN. She worked for various beauty salons in Paducah before opening Lou Anna’s Beauty Shoppe in 1946. After 35 years, Lou retired and began volunteer work for the auxiliary of Western Baptist Hospital for 20 years.

Moving to North 12th Street in 1946, Lou and Bob joined 12th Street Baptist Church where she was a member for 71 years. During the membership Lou served as Training Union Leader and Sunday School teacher for over 60 years. Lou loved people and was a strong witness to both young and old throughout her life.

During there retirement days Lou and Bob loved spending time in Florida playing Rook with friends and family and watching UK Basketball along with St. Louis Cardinal and Atlanta Braves Baseball games.

Lou is survived by her son, Lynn and wife Sue Nan; four grandchildren, Todd (Chan) Jones, Trae (Brenda) Jones, Britt (Mendi) Jones, and Natalie (Tim) Orange; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bill Warford.

Lou Anna was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Bob; her parents, one brother, Rudy Warford; and two sisters, Ora Mae Warford and Pat Carroll.

Funeral services will be at 12:00pm on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Twelve Oaks Baptist Church with Danny Orazine and Rev. Brandt Lyon officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Friends may visit the family from 10:00am to service hour on Thursday at the church.

The family wishes to thank Lourdes Hospice and the Barkley Center employees for there kind support, care, and prayers during Lou Anna’s stay.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Twelve Oaks Baptist Church or Lourdes Hospice.
