Marcus Leon Johnson

December 12, 1940 — February 1, 2019

Marcus Leon Johnson, 78, of Paducah, died Friday, February 1, 2019, at Southgate Nursing Home in Metropolis, Illinois.

Leon was the founder of Friendly Finance which later became Fidelity Credit, a subsidiary of US Bank.  He served the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant at Fort Hood, Texas.  He was a member of Broadway Methodist Church of Paducah.

Leon loved his family, his work, his dogs, and beautiful music.  He was very fortunate to have been able to sing with several outstanding musicians led by extremely talented conductors.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lynn Johnson; a daughter, Jennifer Johnson Panor of Paducah, Kentucky; a son, Jeff Johnson (Susan) of Nashville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren Kathlyn, Meg, Caroline, Sophia Panor; Emma, Tate, and Poppy Johnson; brothers, Dr. Patrick Hawley (Lucretia) of Huntsville, Alabama; Dr.  Lee Humphries (Susan) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; brothers-in-law, John Galbraith (Shelley) of Metarie, Louisiana; and Bill Galbraith (Sibyl) of Goldsby, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Broadway Methodist Church of Paducah, Kentucky.  Friends may call at the church after 11:00 p.m until the service hour.
