Vardie Gene Bunch, 81, of Paducah passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at his home in Paducah, KY.
Born in Eminence, MO, he spent most of his adult life in Southern Illinois and Paducah, KY. He graduated from Anna Jonesboro High School in 1961. Gene retired from Vienna correctional Center after 33 years of service where he worked in the transportation department. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and of the Baptist Faith. He was a life member of the NRA and a licensed amateur radio operator with the American Radio Relay League.
Survivors include: Wife, Patricia Bolte Bunch; four children, Gina (David) Millis, Becky (Michael) Collins, Greg (Vera) Jackson, Dara (Stephen) Russell; three siblings, Leon (Judy) Bunch, Irene (Rick) Raugust, Carlene ( Richard) Gilliam; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Kaisha) Luttrell, Julie (Sam) Meier, Ashley Millis, Sam (Aubrey) Russell , Mason (Merissa) Russell, Kelsie (Colton) Roach, William Jackson, Christopher Jackson, Julian Jackson; four great-grandchildren, Jensen Meier, Tinsley Russell, Sutton Russell, Landon Roach. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Cora Bunch; one son, Chad Jackson; two grandchildren, Nicole Millis and Miles Russell.
Gene had a deep love for his wife, family, friends and his fur baby Rosie. But most of all he had an ever-growing relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Gene was the genuine article, a humble man who longed for an uncomplicated life. He was a great outdoorsman with a passion for hunting, fishing and exploring the caves in Current River. He enjoyed spending time with his family and vacationing in Destin, Florida. He was married to his wife Patricia for 24 years, it was evident to all that he loved her deeply. He was the true definition of a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. His physical absence leaves a hole that is impossible to fill by anyone else. We are confident that Gene has reached his heavenly home with his Lord, and that one day we will see him again.
