Don Cruse

Don Cruse, 85, passed away at his home in Paducah on December 12, 2024, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lonnie (Wilson) Cruse, three sons, Joe (Tracey), Craig (Michelle), and Bill, and two grandsons, Nathan and Daniel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell Cruse Sr. and Mabel (Willett) Cruse, two brothers, Lowell Cruse Jr. and Harold Cruse, and one grandson Philip Donald Cruse.

Don served in the United States Air Force, stationed last at Nellis AFB in Nevada, where he met his wife. He worked for 30 years at UPS, retiring after 30 years of service. Don was a faithful member of the 32nd Street Church of Christ, serving the church as an elder for many years.

Don loved being with his family and spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, or playing golf. He was a great handyman at home and in helping others with their projects, and he never met a stranger. He enjoyed discussing the Bible with anyone he came across.

There will be a family planned memorial service held in Don’s honor on Saturday, December 21 at 2PM at the 32nd Street Church of Christ, address 1028 North 32nd Street Paducah, KY. All of Don’s family and friends are invited to attend the service. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, all expressions of sympathy be in the form of a donation to either St. Jude Children Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family also wants to express its appreciation to the respite care workers who helped Lonnie care for Don in the later stages of his illness, Tosha, Wendy, and Chris. They would also like to express their appreciation to the VA for their assistance throughout Don’s extended illness.
