Dorothy Patterson died on August 10, 2010 in Paducah, KY.
She was born Dorothy Ella La-Grone in Lufkin, Texas on March 26, 1925. She graduated from Lufkin Senior High School in 1942 and from Stephen F. Austin State Teacher's College in Nacogdoches, Texas in 1945 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
She was a chemist at Southland Paper Mill in Lufkin. Dorothy was a groundbreaker for women when, in 1946, she completed post graduate studies as a research scientist, a career traditionally entered only by men. Following an illness she devoted herself to staying home to raise her four children.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Scott Patterson. She is survived by two sons, Edward Patterson of Amarillo,TX, Robin Patterson of Palo Alto,CA, two daughters, Carole Pepler of Paducah, KY, Pamela Dar of Katy,TX, seven grandchildren, one greatgrandchild and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held August 21, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Saint Timothy's Episcopal Church parish hall, 13125 Indianapolis St., Houston Texas.
