Glen Tankersley, age 92, passed away on May 25 at Parkview Nursing Home. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and Papaw and will be deeply missed.
He was a Deacon Emeritus at Twelve Oaks Baptist Church of Paducah, a member of the Gideons International, the VFW and the American Legion. He was also a Kentucky Colonel and a Duke of Paducah. Glen was a proud US Army Veteran with 29 years active and reserve duty and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant.
Glen retired from TVA and he and his wife of 43 years, Delores, volunteered over 14,000 hours with TVA’s retiree group BVI. They were also privileged to travel in all 50 states, Mexico and several provinces in Canada. As much as he loved to travel, Glen loved planning their next adventure just as much.
Glen enjoyed people and never met a stranger. He made many dear friends through his church, military and their travels. Glen often commented on how blessed he was and what a wonderful life he had.
Glen is survived by his wife Delores, daughter Glenann (Dwayne) Free, step daughters Rhonda (Ronnie) Huckleberry and Diana (Tony) Swinford, step son Tim (Neva) Holman, brother Wayne (Glenda )Tankersley, step daughter in law Diane (Russ) Holman Houston, grandchildren Paige (Matthew) Crumpler, Josh (Madison) Bryant, Stacey Fike, Jeremy Mescher, Dr. Laura Holman(Corey), namesake Aaron Glen Holman, namesake John William (Erika) Grimes, Mekel (Paul) Shank, Colby Holman and Ricki Holman and 14 great grandchildren.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Othal Tankersley and step son, Rick Holman.
The family would like to express their appreciation to all who have visited, who prayed for him and who dearly loved him. Please remember the good times you had with Glen and all the blessings of knowing him. Glen loved God above all and is now having the time of his life FOREVER. Praise God that this is just “so long for now”. Rest easy Glen!
Friends may visit with the family from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday May 31, 2024 at Lindsey Funeral Home. With Funeral services following 2:30 p.m. at Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah. Officiating will be Danny Orazine . Interment with military honors to take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
