Hazel Scott Lynn passed away Sunday December 8, 2024 at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky, at the age of 98. She was born on February 25, 1926. Hazel’s life was marked by her patience, resilience, and qualities that endeared her to all who knew her. Throughout her life, Hazel was a dedicated worker, contributing significantly during the war as a welder at shipyards in California and later in Paducah Kentucky. Following her time as a welder, she worked at Uncle Lee’s Sporting Goods store.
Hazel was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she worshiped under the guidance of Bro. Rex Jones. Her faith was an important aspect of her life, providing her strength and solace. Hazel was crowned Duchess of Paducah, a title she held with pride. She excelled in archery, placing in National competitions 61 consecutive years. Her love for the sport also extended to hunting, with a remarkable achievement of having harvested 56 deer over her lifetime. In the off season, she found time for the love of fishing as well.
Hazel leaves behind a loving family, including her daughter, Debbie Musser and Angel White. Grandson, Mitch (Penny) Leidecker, Granddaughter, Tracie (Anthony) Gonzales. Grandson Todd Powers and great grandchildren, Jasmine (Ryan) Amis, Chris Powers, and Peter Leidecker and Emma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Lou Lampley Phelps. Her husbands, Wayne Chester Scott and Jim Lynn. Her sibling Sam Phelps, her children Ray Scott and Connie Dalli. And her grandson, Tim Powers.
Friends may visit with the family 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday December 14, 2024 at Lindsey Funeral Home. The funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Rex Jones officiating. Interment will be at Fooks Cemetery.
