Hilda Wurth

Hilda “Tillie” Rose Wurth (Yopp), age 91, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024 in her home in Paducah, KY. 

 Hilda was born in Paducah, KY on July 22, 1932 to the late Walter Yopp and Myrtle Luigs Yopp. Hilda was the fourth of their seven children and preceded in death by her sisters, Velma Yopp, Thelma Yopp, Kathleen Yopp, Dorothy Estes; her brothers, Herman Yopp and Raymond “Bud” Yopp. 

 She married Joseph Ivo Wurth, Jr. on February 23, 1954 and were married for 49 years and 355 days before Jr.’s death. During those 49 years and 355 days (and beyond), she was a loving wife, mother, Grams, Grandma, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Hilda “Tillie” was an accomplished cook, avid reader, gardener, and enjoyed traveling and being with her family. She graduated in 1951 from St. John’s School and has been a faithful member of the St. John’s Catholic Church, where she has served many years over Bereavement Dinners and volunteering at the annual St. John Picnic. She is also Retired from the McCracken County Clerk’s Office. Hilda has always cherished her family and close friends. She has always rooted for those less unfortunate and taught us the same. Her quiet faith and love of God, the kindness that she treats others with, and integrity have touched all who know her. Her quiet but insistent prayers for the people and world around us became shields we didn’t know we had but saved us from so much. Her humor and wit that was loved so much and was there until her last moments will forever be cherished. 

 Hilda is survived by her four children, Gary Wurth (Sandy), Sheila Howard (Ben), Phyllis Willett (John), Wally Wurth (Dionna); and eight grandchildren, Ashley (Wurth) Sanders, Martin Wurth (Sarah), Sam Howard (Katie), Tom Howard, Josh Wurth (Lindsey), Matt Howard, Curt Willett (Genny), and Sara Earley (Matt). Hilda is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren with one on the way, Lorelei Sanders, Aurora Sanders, Jade Howard, Aidan Sanders, Elijah Sanders, Ethan Sanders, Ansley Wurth, Julia Howard, Max Howard, Kolton Wurth, Hadlee Wurth, Jack Howard, Danny Howard, Collin Willett, Austin Willett and baby girl Howard on the way; and several nieces and nephews. 

 A memorial mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 6705 Old US 45 S Paducah KY 42003.
