Jewell Jones

February 18, 1939 — February 28, 2009

Born on February 19, 1939, Jewell Orbin Jones left this earth at 2:36 A.M. on February 27th, 2009 at Lourdes Hospital, to reside with God and join his dearly loved Mother in a better place.

He was preceded in death by his devoted and loving Mother, Edith Mae (Hardin) Jones, his supportive, loving Father, Norman Reed Jones, Grandparents Ben and Essie Jones, Fred Hardin and Maudie Hardin-Spears, a very young niece Brenda Sue Bonds, a teenage nephew Lee Bonds, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived in death by two sisters, Joyce E. Bonds and Husband William of Smithland, KY; Jean L. Powell and husband Robert of Sauk Village, IL.; three brothers, Larry D. Jones and wife Janice of Washington, MO; Jerry R. Jones and Joe N. Jones of Paducah, KY; and various cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jewell was pure in mind, body, and spirit, a devout Christian and a long time member of the Victory Assembly Worship Center, whose Pastor, Brother Gary DeRossett will hold services for him on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel at Lindsey Funeral Home on 224 North 4th Street, Paducah, KY. Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, March 2, 2009 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Following the service, supper will be served at 5:00 P.M. at Victory Assembly Worship Center, 1345 W. Friendship Rd. , Paducah, KY. A private burial service is planned for a later date.

As a young man living on the farm in Southern Illinois, Jewell enjoyed swimming, fishing, driving the tractor and riding his horse, Old Bill. It was there that he developed a keen appreciation and love of food: both growing and eating it, with the second part continuing throughout his 70 years. Jewell and his family moved back to his hometown of Paducah where he spent most of his adult life, with the last years as a resident of Arbors of Livingston Co. in Smithland, KY.

Jewell’s quiet, unassuming and kindly attitude along with his generous and loving nature will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In his memory donations may be made to the Heart and Lung Associations and/or Victory Assembly Worship Center, 1345 N. Friendship Rd., Paducah KY, 42001.
