Linda C. King left this world on Nov. 24, 2023, at age 67 at Baptist Hospital in Paducah. She was surrounded by friends and family for the week prior as she battled the effects of Parkinson’s Disease. She was able to spend Thanksgiving Day with all four loving daughters, as she would have wanted.
Linda was born on July 3, 1956, to Carl Sarten and Laura Fields McDougal. She grew up in Benton, KY and graduated from Benton High School in 1974. She married Michael Henson that same year, and together raised their family in Murray, KY. While married, they were active members of both Benton Church of Christ and Glendale Road Church of Christ.
Linda was a stay-at-home mom until 1988, when she decided to attend Nursing School at Murray State University to receive her BS RN. While continuing to raise 4 daughters, she completed the program in 3 years, graduating Suma Cum Laude and earning the honor of being Valedictorian of her graduating class. She spent her career as a Registered Nurse in both Home Health in Murray and Quality Assurance at Baptist Health in Paducah.
Her loving husband, David L. King, left this earth in February 2023. She was the proud mother of daughters Lori (Camron) Henson Guill, Kim (Jerry) Henson Holloway, Aimee (Patrick) Henson Singleton, and Brooke (Brandon) Henson Grow; and stepchildren Kelly (Wayne) Walden, Ellen (Jim) Denny, and Rod King.
She loved spending her time with family and was so proud of each of her 23 grandchildren, Blaire, Natalie & Sawyer Champion; Bennett Guill; Gage, Garrett, Hallic & Hattie Dunn; Julie, Jemma & Eiryn Holloway; Eli & Evan Singleton; Ethan, Hagan & Caroline Grow; Ryson, Cason, Michael-Ellen, & Kalkidan Walden; Tristan, Paige, and Madeline Potter; and 2 great-grandchildren, Easton Dunn and Harrison Dunn.
She was also survived by her sisters, Karen Hunter and Kelly Mikrut; brother, Robert McDougal; stepbrothers, Sean McDougal and Jeff Jewell; and stepsister, Regina Dane.
Linda was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Carl and Ann Sarten; her mother and stepfather, Laura and Bobby McDougal; and her stepsister, Shara McDougal.
She had a deep love for animals and enjoyed her hobby of photography. She also devoted her time to the care of others as the need arose, including the final years of her mother, father, and husband. Her sacrificial love knew no boundaries.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Lindsey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Benton Church of Christ Cemetery.
