Mary Virginia Cochran

February 11, 1940 — November 18, 2024

Paducah

Mary Virginia (Ginny) Cochran, age 84, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, at her home.

Ms. Cochran was born on February 11, 1940, at Riverside Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. She attended Clark Elementary School, Brazelton Junior High School, and was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School, class of 1958, the first class to begin grade 10 and complete grade 12 at the new Paducah Tilghman High School. She continued her education by attending Memphis State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962, majoring in Sociology and Psychology.

Ms. Cochran worked as a social services counselor in various cities and as a Flight Attendant for Ozark Airlines. She commented that being a Flight Attendant was good because she had to keep her weight at 105 lbs. When she returned to Paducah she was a salesperson at a retail bookstore specializing in history books and antique items. She also worked as a receptionist at Lotus Center for Women. It was at this time that she reunited with her high school friends. She enjoyed hosting her friends in her home and it was her delight to prepare and serve holiday meals for them.

She is survived by cousins James Corbett Davidson (Buck), of Connecticut, and Ted and Corrine Davidson, of Louisiana. She is also survived by her best pet friend, Bucky, a golden retriever.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mary Isbell Clement Agnew, her mother, Melville Ann Clement Agnew Cochran, her father, John Long Cochran, and her brother, John Cochran.

Ms. Cochran was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Paducah, Kentucky.

Interment will be in the Columbarium at Grace Episcopal Church Gardens on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 1:00pm.
