Opal Mae Heine, 100, of Metropolis, IL went to be with her Lord and Savior at 11:30am on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Metropolis Nursing and Rehab.
Opal was born to Thomas Edwards and Mable (Gee) Edwards on July 13, 1924, in Gaskin City, Illinois.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was referred to as “Mamaw” by most of her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church Metropolis.
Surviving are her two children, Stephen (Sue) Heine of Metropolis and David (Rose Marie) Heine of Paducah; five grandchildren, Kent Heine, Lori (Troy) Deasel, Dr. Kyle (Kelly) Heine, Lisa (Seth) Hancock, and Dr. Jeffrey (Jessica) Heine; eleven great-grandchildren, Brandon (Jennifer) Heine, Nick Deasel, Mason (Shelby) Heine, Lauren Deasel, Logan Deasel, A.J. Heine, A.C. Heine, Fletcher Hancock, Mary Charlotte Hancock, June Heine, Eleanor Heine; great-great grandchildren, Evan Heine, Zander Deasel, and Piper Deasel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arthur Heine; her second husband, Wayne Reed; her son, Charles Wayne (Eva) Heine; her daughter, Kimberly Jeanne Heine; six sisters, Flora Healy, Laura Horton, Arell Horton, Delma Hagg, Georginia Harper, and one infant sister.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Lindsey Funeral Home Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Friends may visit the family from 11:00am to service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
