Rev. James Ashley Legereit

Rev. James Ashley Legereit, 45, of Metropolis went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 8, 2024, with his family by his side. 

Ashley was a Baptist minister and a member of Waldo Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, baseball, and watching his kids and nieces and nephews play sports. 

Surviving are his two children, Trey Michael Legereit of Houston, TX and Mya Curlin of Bardwell; his mother, Peggy Legereit of Metropolis; two siblings, Major Danny (Noelle) Legereit of Austin, TX and Amber (Clay) Cissell of Metropolis; nieces and nephews, Chase (Paige) Legereit, Lakin Legereit, Carter Legereit, Creighton Legereit, Nicholas Lambeth, Luke Gonzales, Elijah Gonzales, Bailey Cissell, Brady Cissell, Brooke Cissell; and one great-nephew, Hudson Daniel Legereit.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Legereit.

Memorial services will be at 6:00pm on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Metropolis.

Friends may visit the family from 5:00pm to service hour on Thursday at the church.
