Robert Lee Richardson, 80 of Smithland, Kentucky passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon November 9, 2024 at Baptist Health of Paducah, encircled by his attentive daughters.
Affectionately known as Bob or Bobby to family and friends he will be deeply missed but forever held in our hearts.
Robert was born on September 15. 1944 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Paul Harry Richardson Sr. and Eunice Josephine Scott. Bob was an amazing father, grandpa, brother uncle and husband. Not all super hero ‘s wear capes.
Bob was content, jolly and had a nomadic soul. He was passionate about traveling especially out West. One of his last solo adventures in his rolling chateau was with his wiener dog by his side kick “ Lulu” traveling to the Yellow Stone National Park, Oregon, California, Arizona, Las Vegas. Dad stated if his legacy of adventure in life “I had fun!” He enjoyed spending his last days watching movies on his 85” smart tv and viewing Tic Tok videos. Bob wore many hats in his lifetime; building homes in Reidland for Gene Fisher, the Modine factory in Paducah. He was a member of the IUOE locals 181 , 320. He worked and retired from Jim Smith Contracting as a Roller operator Engineer for over 30 years. He could tell you every street, road, highway and interstate he worked on throughout his career. His coworkers knew him by the cb handle “Roller Man.”
Left behind to cherish fond memories of Bob are Two daughters, Wendy J. Richardson of Harrisburg, IL. And Tracy L. Heater of Grand Rivers, KY; sister, Carol (Rick) Kennedy, Brother, Paul (Buzz) H. Richardson Jr. all of Bullhead City, AZ. Brother, Keith W. (Bonnie) Richardson of LaPine Or; five grandchildren, Brandon Bristow, Kevin Bristow, Logan Heater, Madeline Bailey, Amanda Heater Miller; Eight great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss his presence dearly.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 loving years, Gloria J. (Jeannie) Haley; infant son Shawn; Son-in-law, Chris Heater; infant great grandson, Micheal Bristow and his parents.
In honoring his request, a private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
