Timothy Allen Jennings, 64, passed away at his home in Calvert City, KY. His time of death was confirmed at 1:20pm on June 20th, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willam and Martha Faye Jennings and siblings Cindy Lou Jennings, William Glen Jennings, and Gary Jennings. He is survived by his daughter, Holly Jennings and grandson, Silas Jennings, both of Paducah. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; Jamey Jennings (West Palm Beach, FL), Sarah Stanton (Nashville, TN), Jessi Stanton (Benton, KY), and Billy Jennings (Paducah, KY)
Tim was born in Paducah, KY, on February 4th, 1959. He spent most of his life as a river man, starting as a deckhand at the age of 16. He was incredibly skilled at his craft, and eventually, he worked his way up as a Chief Engineer. He had a brilliant mind and despite having no formal education, his brain held more knowledge about towboat engines than a stack of a hundred books.
His life was not always easy, yet despite that, he worked to make things easier for everyone around him. He was generous, sometimes to a fault, but he always took care of the people in his life. One of the things Tim knew best was how to have a good time, and he made sure everyone around him had one too. You would find him most often with a cold beer, usually fishing, sharing a feast with friends, or camping down by the water. In his quieter moments, he loved tinkering and caring for his land.
There were many complicated layers that made Tim up, but his core was kindness and loyalty. He was a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, friend, and in his later years, Grandaddy. He loved his people as fiercely as they loved him, but he did it on his terms, just like he did everything else in life.
Tim requested cremation and a private service. Like a true towboat man, he has asked his daughter to take his ashes down to the river for one more southbound trip to New Orleans. Wherever you are today, raise a glass in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, we ask you to share the spirit of Tim and do something incredibly generous for someone you come across today.
