Vernon Wilkey

Vernon Wilkey, 57, of Kevil passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023, with his wife and daughter by his side, also surrounded by his family.

Vernon was a retired truck driver and an avid Scooby Doo fan. He loved to travel with his family, especially to the ocean. He loved to be around his niece, Haven Crider who would always make him smile and laugh.

Surviving is his wife, Penny Wilkey of Kevil; daughter, Samantha (Nathan) Collins of Paducah; his father, Dennis (Janie) Wilkey of Metropolis; his mother, Betty Wood of Metropolis; his brother, Stephen Wilkey; and half-brother, Paul Lynch

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vernon and Madie Holt and Markey and Laverne Wilkey; and his close friend Gaylon Spear.

Funeral services will be at 7:00pm on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Lindsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Ogden officiating. Cremation will follow.

Friends may visit the family from 5:00pm to service hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Casual clothes and blue jeans are encouraged by the family.
