Wayne Leroy Schneider, 82, of Gilbertsville, KY, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at his home with his wife and three daughters by his side. He was born October 28,1940, in Peoria, IL, the son of John and Cornelia (Kauffman) Schneider. He was preceded in death by his Father, John; Mother, Cornelia; one brother, Harold Dean Schneider and his wife Peggy; brother in-law Darrell Meisenheimer; and sister inlaw Sharon Schneider. Wayne is survived by his wife Connie Schneider of Gilbertsville, KY; three daughters, Lynn (husband Steve) Zimmerman of Morton, IL; Kelly Rosa of Gilbertsville, KY; Tammy (husband Gordon) Fidler of Chatham, IL; three sons, Wayne II, Randy, and James; and siblings, Richard Schneider and Martie Meisenheimer; 12 Grandchildren; 16 GreatGrandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Serving his country in the U.S. Navy, Wayne was stationed in San Diego, California and after an honorable discharge, became an accomplished machinist. He worked at several machine shops in the Peoria area, retiring in 2007 from Aventine Renewable Energy in Pekin. While living in Bartonville, IL, he was a member of Faith Missionary Church, Peoria, and American Legion 979. After moving to Kentucky, he became a member of Twin Lakes Worship Center, and joined the Elks Club, both of Benton. Family and friends would heartily describe Wayne as being dependable, very hard working, detailed, knowledgable, and overall just a helpful guy who would drop what he was doing to help someone. His wife, Connie, said he was her rock, someone she could always depend upon, her everything. Wayne could build or fix almost anything and served as a great resource of information. Wayne loved living his dream on Kentucky Lake, driving his golf cart around, fishing, boating, golfing and greeting people at he and Connie’s VRBO, and he was a life-long fan of the Chicago Cubs. Although not very tall, his impact on those fortunate enough to know him was large and memorable. Because of his love of God and love for his family, he made a lasting difference in the lives of countless people. The personable warmth of his presence will be forever missed here, and Heaven will no doubt be a little more organized and precise following his arrival
. A special thank you to Mercy Health Hospice and their wonderful care-givers, who the family grew to love and appreciate.
