Rev. Ira Gene Driver

Rev. Ira Gene Driver “Gene,”, 85, of St. Charles, KY, formerly of Paducah, KY, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020, at his residence.

Born December 18, 1934 in Puryear, TN, he was the son of the late Paul H. Driver and Thelma French Driver. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 47 years and the mother of his children, Anna Grace Thompson Driver and his wife of 15 years, Norma Wilson Driver. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather/great grandfather.

He is survived by four children, Rugina (John) James of Eldorado, IL, Renee (Ron) Huddleston of St. Charles, KY, Jeff Driver, Paducah, KY,

Jennifer (Dave) Kodner of Chesterfield, MO; two sisters, Pauline “Polly” Carlton and Barbara Naney, both of Paducah, KY and one brother, Don Driver, West Paducah KY.  He was known as “Papaw” to 10 grandchildren and  “Papaw Gene” to 10 great grandchildren.  He was the stepfather of Anita Simpson and David Wilson, both of Paducah, KY, step grandfather of four and step great grandfather of five.

After graduating from Reidland High School, he worked as a painter and then a machinist. In 1991, he went into the ministry as served as pastor of the Gospel Assembly Church in Kansas City, Mo and Cincinnati, OH. After retiring from the ministry, he resided in Paducah, KY and was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Paducah. He later moved to St. Charles, KY where he resided with his daughter and son-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the Gospel Assembly Church in Paducah with the Rev. Encil Edmonds, Rev. Mike Hunt and Rev. Ben Butero officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Paducah, KY.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time on Saturday at the church.
